10 Quick Tips for Buying Outdoor Fountains

1. While shopping, pay attention to what the garden fountain is made of. We offer garden fountains made of resin, ceramic, glass, various stone, and various metal.

2. Water sound is an important aspect to note when choosing the right outdoor fountain. Typically, the larger the outdoor water fountain, the greater the noise. If you are interested in a large outdoor fountain, be sure you have a large area over which the noise can disperse.

3. Size is another factor to consider when shopping for outdoor water fountains. Think about where you will use your solar fountains and choose accordingly.

4. Barrel fountains are generally made of wood, so you will want to note the type of wood used in construction.

5. To keep water clean from algae, sludge, mineral deposits and other organic material, you will need to add water fountain cleaners to outdoor fountains. Be sure to read the label for proper usage and to make sure the clarifier is safe for animals, plants, and aquatic life.

6. Some outdoor water fountains are equipped with a foggers, which create hazy, fog-like mists for added visual appeal.

7. You will likely want to drain your outdoor water fountains and store or cover it during the winter if you live in a harsh climate zone. If possible, bring your water fountain pump indoors as well. Freezing and thawing action inside your outdoor wall fountain or pump can result in cracking.

8. If your outdoor water fountain is electric, check to see if it requires 120 or 220 volts for operation. We recommend hiring a licensed electrician to do any wiring.

9. Running amps indicate how much electricity your waterfall fountain requires for operation. The lower the number, the less power you need to operate it.

10. Solar fountains are also available. These garden fountains are an ecological alternative to electric fountains.
